(1-6) are autograph letters and brief notes, several undated, from Charles Kean. (7-12) are autograph letters from Ellen Kean, many undated, written from Reydell, London, and Bath. Letters from Charles Kean: (2) thanks Dr. Daniell for sending a play for his perusal; although it contains considerable merit, Kean returns it. (3), to Mr. Mitchell, indicates that Jones is anxious to have the Queen see a bust. (4), dated 24 Dec. 1857 to an unidentified recipient, concerns tickets for the pantomime. (5), to "Madame" (annotation on verso identifies recipient as possibly Mrs. Edward Baldwin) mentions tickets to Kean's production of The winter's tale. (6), written in the third person, presents compliments to Miss James. Letters from Ellen Kean: In (7), to Miss Allen, she accepts a dinner invitation. (8), written in the third person, declines an invitation from Col. and Lady Louisa Tighe. (9), dated April 6 and accompanied by an envelope postmarked April 6 and April 8, 1849 and addressed to Rev. J.S. Money Kyrle, Yatesbury Rectory, Calne, Wiltshire, is on mourning paper and responds to an offer of a "secluded home in our affliction" (possibly a reference to the recent death of Charles Kean's mother). (10), to Mr. Cooke, refers to Mrs. Warner who, despite most outward appearances, "is preparing for a speedy departure into a better world." (11) refers to reading "The sower of the Nile." (12), on mourning paper, refers to the death of Charles Kean. Also includes (13) an autograph letter signed from C. Manley to C. Kean, concerning the conduct of audience members he suspects were prostitutes; (14) an autograph letter signed from William Farren to Charles Kean requesting a box to see A midsummer night's dream and Pantomime; (15) an autograph order of admission to the Royal Princess's Theatre, signed by Charles Kean, for Mrs. Dalton's party of four, 18 July, 1851; (16) a leaf bearing Charles Kean's signature, the date 6 July 1863, and the phrase "champion of the seas."

The name "Mr W Farren," written on the front cover (probably not in his autograph) may be assumed to mean that the part was originally played by William Farren, who first appeared in London in 1818. Farren is listed as Malvolio on Covent Garden playbills for Nov. 8-9, 1820. The part is considerably cut.

With two newspaper clippings, one dated 1843 describing Farren's recent illness and one describing Farren's farewell benefit performance, dated July 1855. Also, a print of Mr. W. Farren as Sir Anthony Absolute (published by G. Smeeton, 17 St. Martin's Lane, 1818).
