Marston, Philip Bourke, 1850-1887. Papers.
Title:
Papers.
Most of the items in this collection are poems and short stories by Marston. Evidently, many of the emendations were made by Louise Moulton. There are also some criticisms and suggestions about several of Marston's stories made by Herbert Edwin Clarke (1852- ). The collection also includes a small bound volume titled "Table of Letters" in which entries were made from 13 December 1884 to 25 January 1886. These entries record abstracts of letters sent by Marston, but there is never an indication of recipients. Most of the entries describe Marston's daily activities, and the volume provides information similar to what might be found in a diary. There is also an undated, detailed horoscope for Marston prepared by "Muriel." The rest of the collection includes items pertaining to the wills of Philip Marston and his father John Westland Marston; newspaper clippings and printed obituaries of both Marstons; and a few items of correspondence. There is one poem by each of the following: Herbert E. Clarke, Louise Moulton, William Sharp (1855-1905), and Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909). In Box 2 there is a folder of materials prepared by A. G. Waite to describe the collection.
