Title:
Brandeis University, National Women's Committee, Baltimore Chapter collection, 1948-2007.
Contains scrapbooks; letters; flyers; newspaper clippings; newsletters; programs and manuals related to the committee's activities to raise money for the Brandeis Library. Series I is divided into two subseries: subseries A (Scrapbooks, 1948-1984), contains newspaper clippings, flyers, programs, newsletters, certificates and invitations. The subseries also includes the contents of a small blue binder, contained in two folders, with sections labeled: administration, meetings, annual membership, book fund, book sale, bulletin, special project, study group, life membership, program and regional. subseries B (Loose Papers, 1967-2007), contains materials that were not put into scrapbook form, but it is assumed that they would have been if the scrapbooks would have been maintained. The materials are arranged chronologically. There are a few important dates to take note of in reference to the activities of the Baltimore Chapter, with materials related to the following dates included in this collection. Eleanor Roosevelt addressed the Baltimore Associates of Brandeis University at their fourth annual meeting on Nov. 29, 1954. The Brandeis Study Group began in September 1959, and continues today. In the fall of 1961, the Baltimore Chapter began "New Books for Old," which is an annual book sale that continues today. "New Books for Old" is used by all the BUNWC chapters as a book sale to raise money, but also keeps some of the rare and out-of-print books for the Brandeis Library. Series II, Undated Materials, contains materials organized according to subject matter because they contain no dates. The categories include: study group program manuals, newspaper clippings, recipes, poetry, memorial resolution for Ida Glass, membership, fundraising, committee sponsored trips, BUNWC bylaws, brochures, information on the Ballet Folclórico Nacional de Mexico, book sale flyers and blank stationery. Series III, Photographs contains black and white and color photographs. The first group of photographs, black and white, were removed from the back of Scrapbook 7. The second group were removed from an envelope and contain images from a party relating to the National Women's Committee. The rest of the photographs are not in any groupings, but all relate to the BUNWC.
