Report of the committee appointed to canvass the votes from the last election to determine the true winners. Their findings verified the election of George Clinton and Pierre Van Cortlandt as Governor and Lieutenant Governor and the election of Henry Cruger, John Schenck, Selah Strong, Joseph Hasbrouck, John Frey, Robert Woodworth, and John Livingston as Senators. Report is signed by Melancton Smith, Daniel Graham, Pierre Van Cortlandt, Jr., David McCarthy, Jonathan N. Havens, David Gelston, and Thomas.

A collection of land records consisting of deeds, leases, correspondence regarding land, surveys, maps and account books recording rent payments. The papers include land grants to Morgan for land in Herkimer county; deeds involving Morgan, Benjamin Walker, Marinus Willett, Melancton Smith, John DeLancey, Philip Schuyler, Walter Livingston and Robert C. Livingston. Also included is an 1809 certificate of naturalization to Eliza Morgan; land surveys by William Cockburn; and Morgan's license to practice law in the New York State Supreme Court. Of particular interest is a ledger book of rents collected by Morgan. This volume records the location of land, the name of the owner and the terms of the lease. Below this information rental payments are recorded in chronological order. The volume is substantial, containing information on over 100 lease contracts.

Collection of legal documents and miscellaneous papers related to the work of the New York State Supreme Court, 1691 - ca. 1891. They include affidavits, warrants, dockets, writs, a roll of attorneys sworn in the Supreme Court, 1790-1792, and a bill of costs from William C. Hasbrouck, attorney, related to his work on a Supreme Court case in 1836. The collection contains numerous late eighteenth-century writs signed by John McKesson and James Fairlie, and legal documents pertaining to various prominent New Yorkers, including Melancton Smith, Rip Van Dam, and William Duer.

Title: Lawrence-Horn family papers, 1747-1891.

Papers, 1747-1891, relating to the Lawrence and Horn families, with some material on Thurston family properties included. They contain correspondence, maps, certificates, deeds, and other miscellaneous papers. One body of material, dated 1782, contains receipts, vouchers, general orders, and returns of provisions related to the work of Jonathan Lawrence and Melancton Smith supplying the Continental Army in the area north of Poughkeepsie, with a good deal of activity centered on Albany and Great Barrington. There is some correspondence of John L. Lawrence, dating from the 1820s and 1830s, including a letter from Aaron Burr and a letter from Rufus King. Material related to the Horn family includes receipts and bills of lading dated between 1810 and 1820, relating to the business of the firm of Horn, Striker & Covert; James Horn's commission as lieutenant in the 51st New York Regiment in 1815, and land papers granting him 80 acres for his service in the War of 1812; correspondence about the accidental death of his son, Charles A. Horn, who drowned in California; law licenses of another son, William T. Horn, who was married to Lydia Smith Lawrence, the daughter of John L. Lawrence; and letters to Mary T. Horn from her mother, dating from the 1880s and 1890s. There are also three maps of Greenwich Village and parts of New York State, and indentures and deeds to properties in New York City and Connecticut.

The majority of the papers, including correspondence, accounts, tax receipts, indentures, and maps, pertain to John Tayler's endeavors as a land agent in New York State. There are accounts and related papers concerning his appointment as Clothier General to the United States Army in 1776, and as agent for the N.Y.S. Commission of Indian Affairs. The legal series contains documents and letters regarding various cases he handled including the estate of Jacob Evertson, the bankruptcy of John Smith, Veeder family land claims, and the will of Isaac Casparson Halnbak [Hollenbeck ?], (1708).

The Zephaniah Platt papers are organized into four series. Family correspondence is primarily letters to Zephaniah Platt by his children. Correspondence is concerned chiefly with land matters involving Zephaniah Platt and others, for the most part in Dutchess and Clinton Counties, New York. Family members, military officers, government officials, and proprietors of patents are represented including Egbert Benson, R. Cochran, David Gelston, members of the Livingston family, Simon R. Reeves, Melancton Smith, and Hugh White. There are some letters to family member Reverend Frederick Halsey who founded the First Presbyterian Church of Plattsburgh. Financial and legal items include an account memorandum book of Zephaniah Platt for 1785, business agreements, military certificate and inspection returns for Clinton County, receipts, and estate papers and wills for Gerard W. Beekman (1786), Gisbert Pele [Pelze?] (1755, 1790) and John Platt (1771). Land papers consist of abstracts, agreements (including a list of the original proprietors for Plattsburgh), deeds and maps for lands in Nine Partners Patent, Dutchess County and various patents in Clinton County. There are seven maps including Sadaqueda Patent, 1784, Oneida County, New York; Bell's Tracts, [Clinton County], New York; Township No. 24, [Somerset, Windham County, Vermont?]; Dean's, Beekman's, and Kelly's Patents, Clinton County, New York; and two which are unidentified.
