Payroll, certificates, bills of exchange, accounts, and letters relating to the settling of the regiment's accounts. Most of the documents are certificates of service or certificates for wages due to individual officers of the regiment, all attested by Atkinson. Many are accompanied by the recipients' bills of exchange directing the payment of their wages to other persons. There are also some letters from officers to the regiment's agent, John Thomlinson, requesting their pay. Also present are Atkinson's letter of attorney for Thomlinson; a payroll of officers; two letters from Atkinson to George Jaffrey, the Treasurer and Commissary General, concerning records and accounts; Jaffrey's account of the expenses of the expedition; and a copy of the final warrant for expenses, addressed to paymaster William Pitt the Elder.

Original letters (1741-49, 1755) related to Shirley's role as Governor of Massachusetts (1741-1749, 1753-57) and as commander of the British forces in America during King George's War and the French and Indian War. Subjects include the government of the Province, the land bank and paper currency in Mass., relations with England, and the campaigns and military strategy during the French and Indian War, in particular at Crown Pt. and Niagara. Correspondents include William Johnson, John Stoddard, John Thomlinson, and Stephen Hopkins. Also, a calendar with summaries of the Shirley letters in the Public Record Office in England, compiled by Charles H. Lincoln for his two-volume work, "The Correspondence of William Shirley" (1912). Very few of the original letters in the collection are included in this work.

Contemporary copy of the journal of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, July 23-Aug. 7, 1740, which the House ordered to be copied, authenticated with the provincial seal by Gov. Belcher, and sent to John Thomlinson, the province's agent in London. The legislature wished to inform the Court of its compliance with instructions to supply a company of men for the West Indian expedition, to protest Gov. Belcher's lack of partiality in the Massachusetts-New Hampshire boundary dispute, and to request that New Hampshire be provided a separate governor from that of Massachusetts Bay.
