The manuscript portion of this collection includes manuscripts and notes on birds, fossils, animals, whales, shells, plants, reptiles, and other living creatures; manuscript copies of Tomkins' book, Birds of the Savannah River Delta; book reviews; the Cockspur Island Lighthouse; and the history of Quarantine Station. The photographs include images of birds, crustaceans, insects, reptiles, fish, snakes, animals, people, plants, skeletons, fossils, animal tracks, scenes and landscapes, photographs of African American grave markers in Sunbury, Georgia (these may be sculptures by Cyrus Bowen), Georgia Historical Society, Savannah, and other southern cities.
