Includes Winne's general report written on his return to Buffalo, 22 June 1862. Also, a letter written by Steele to Frederick Law Olmsted, general secretary of the U.S. Sanitary Commission, 17 Apr. 1862, asking for guidance in carrying out the goals of the committee; a letter from Dr. Sanford B. Hunt from Newport News, 4 June 1862; the 1 May 1862 report of the Western Sanitary Committee, with letter, 16 June 1862, from Rev. Montgomery Schuyler; letters from Morris J. Asch, stating that the surgeon general cannot send only Buffalo soldiers to Buffalo General Hospital, and from George T. Strong, thanking the committee for its contribution; a receipt for payment of board and medical attention at Buffalo General Hospital for soldier John Welch; and a note from J. E. Follett, 14 July 1862, asking Steele to give a travelling soldier five dollars.
