Scenes of significant or dramatic events of the French Revolution. Subjects include the Tennis Court Oath of June 1789; Honoré-Gabriel de Riquetti, comte de Mirabeau, giving a speech to the National Assembly in June of 1789; Georges Jacques Danton giving a speech to the Cordeliers political club; the arrest of Louis XVI at Varennes; the trial of Louis XVI; the assassination of Jean Paul Marat; revolutionary festivals; prisoners being summoned to execution; Danton, Jean Sylvain Bailly, and Camille Desmoulins going to the guillotine; Jean-Lambert Tallien speaking before the Revolutionary Tribune on July 27, 1794, the day that Robespierre was overthrown; and Napoleon and Emmanuel Joseph Sieyès conferring before their coup d'état of November 9-10, 1799. Also included are illustrated lyrics to the songs Le Reveil du Peuple and Hymne à l'Etre Suprème. Many prints are anonymous.
