Title:
Guide to Victor Riesel Papers, 1929-1994
Victor Riesel (1917-1995) was born in New York and was a nationally syndicated labor journalist and an advisor to labor leaders and politicians. In 1946, he began his syndicated daily labor column, which appeared in hundreds of newspapers over the next three decades. Riesel traveled widely and in later years his politics became more conservative. By the early 1970s, he had become an advisor to the Nixon administration on labor matters. The collection includes scrapbooks, clippings, photographs and correspondence with labor leaders, political leaders and government officials, fellow journalists, and his friends and political associates. Prominent individuals include: Allen Dulles, Sidney Hook, J. Edgar Hoover, Hubert Humphrey, Richard Nixon, and Budd Schulberg among others.

Budd Schulberg papers
Title:
Budd Schulberg papers
The Papers of Budd Schulberg contain correspondence, including e-mail and faxes, manuscripts, typescripts, magazines, newspaper clippings, photographs, galley proofs, notes, address books, calendar books, financial and legal documents, diaries, scrapbooks, interviews and memorabilia of screenwriter and author Budd Schulberg. The bulk of the papers include research and manuscripts for his published and unpublished works and contain numerous drafts, revisions, notes and annotations that provide insight into Schulberg’s writing process. Newspaper clippings and magazines detail his interest in and experience with a variety of subjects addressed in his work, including boxing and labor unions. Furthermore, Schulberg’s relationship with his family is revealed in correspondence with his parents and siblings. Of note are materials on the Watts Writers Workshop, which Schulberg helped to create in response to the Watts riots in Los Angeles in 1965. Additionally, his correspondence related to "On the Waterfront" includes exchanges with Director Elia Kazan referencing the casting of actor Marlon Brando in the film. The papers also include a small collection of Nazi memorabilia acquired during his service in World War II.

Selznick, David O., 1902-1965. Studio archive, 1904-1980 (bulk 1936-1955).
Title:
Studio archive, 1904-1980 (bulk 1936-1955).
Contains records documenting every aspect of David O. Selznick's Hollywood studio operations including script development, production, publicity, finances, and distribution. The records follow film's pioneer days in New York through the heyday of the studio system in Hollywood, to the rise of television. Besides Selznick's independent productions such as A Star is Born (1937), Gone with the Wind (1939), and Rebecca (1940), the archive documents his association with three major studios, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount, and RKO. Arranged according to the departmental division of Selznick's studio, the archive traces the evolution of films from story purchase through script development, casting, design, production, exploitation, distribution, and reissue. Though most of the materials document Selznick's independent career, there are also records concerning his personal affairs, his father's career, as well as films Selznick developed but never produced. The archive touches on virtually every major Hollywood person, studio, and event of the early 20th century. The archive is highlighted by David O. Selznick's personal files, found in Series I, and arranged in 28 sub-subseries. These records document Selznick's personal involvement in every aspect of his business and chronicle his life. Found in this subseries are clippings, confidential and personal files, coproduction and loanout files, correspondence, calendars, financial and legal files, interoffice files, MGM, Paramount, and RKO files, Myron Selznick estate files, photographs, safe deposit files, story files, talent files, and writers files.
