The Park family papers are composed of correspondence and other papers of Park family members and of correspondence and other documents collected and preserved by Park family members for their autograph or historical value. The papers include six volumes of mounted autograph items as well as unbound documents of American and European authors, scientists, military leaders, statesmen, and clergymen. The papers include a large collection of documents relating to the history, faculty, and administration of Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts and of the Andover Theological Seminary. Particularly numerous are the personal and professonal papers of Eliphalet Pearson. The papers also include numerous documents of John Hoff Duke of Charleston, South Carolina as well as estate papers of Augustine Prevost and documents relating to the early history of Wrentham, Massachusetts. Papers of Park family members include intra-family correspondence and items of related Burr, Edwards, and Reeve family members. Marion Edwards Park's correspondence documents her college years at Bryn Mawr. Correspondence with M. Carey Thomas in the 1920s details the transition of leadership at the college.

Father and son Loammi Baldwin, Sr. and Jr. were active in the Harvard community in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This collection contains an assortment of student records, notes, and correspondence reflecting the involvement of Loammi Baldwin Sr. (1740-1807) as a parent, donor, and committee member, and the involvement of Loammi Baldwin Jr. (1780-1838), first as a member of the Class of 1800, and later as an active alumnus. The records are divided into three series: a note in Baldwin Sr.'s hand with calculations of the length of printed lines of all the volumes in the Harvard Library (Series I), correspondence between members of the Harvard community and the Baldwins (Series II), and student records that primarily record Baldwin Sr.'s payment for and authorization of his son's undergraduate education at the College. The correspondence is generally routine letters such as notifications of meetings at the College, and the collection does not contain information related to the Baldwins' involvement as civil engineers in Harvard's building projects. Of particular note, the student records--primarily quarter bills, receipts, and absence excuse notes--provide a window into the role of a parent in managing the financial and administrative aspects of a Harvard student's education in the late 18th century.

Title: Papers, 1704-1858.

Papers of the Phillips family of Andover, Mass., primarily containing those of Samuel Phillips relating to his gunpowder mill during the Revolution and his role in state politics. Included are letters from U.S. Representatives and Senators of the newly-formed Congress describing current issues and their relation to Massachusetts, among them the federal assumption of the states' debts following the Revolution, and salaries. Among the correspondents are Caleb Strong, Benjamin Goodhue, and David Sewall. Also included is a copy of diary pages kept in January 1793, possibly by Samuel Phillips, on a journey from Boston to Philadelphia where he met with numerous politicians and other prominent citizens; and a few misc. papers of John Phillips.
