The girl [Elizabeth Fürst] has been writing foolish letters to them--a very impertinent one to her Aunt, and a senseless one to him. He shall write no more to her [Fürst] nor will receive any more from her.

Many of the letters discuss Mrs. Garrick, Elizabeth (Fürst) von Saar, his antiquarian and genealogical research, and the Rackett family. A letter with black border dated October 17, 1822 describes Mrs. Garrick's death (L.g.49). The letters refer also to the falsification of pedigrees by Rouge Croix (February 8, 1819, L.g.41, and others); the funeral of George III (February 18, 1820, L.g.43); the sale of some of the "rubbish" belonging to Mrs. Garrick's estate and some Elizabeth I manuscripts discovered at the State Paper Office (both November 29, 1825, L.g.51); the Reform Bill (March 26, 1831, L.g.66, and others); Beltz's discoveries in Stratford upon Avon and Boswell's Life of Johnson (December 10, 1831, L.g.68). Beltz and Rackett were co-trustees of Garrick's estate.

Her letter with the necessary documents and certificates has arrived and she should not worry about receiving her bequest. The library, jewels and other effects will be sold in April. Several persons in the will are the children of some of her earliest friends, many of whom he has never seen in his life. He did not perceive any abatement of regard by Mrs. Garrick towards her. Among the effects at Hampton is a salt cellar that belonged to Shakespeare and a cup formed of his mulberry tree planted by him. It is uncertain whether these belonged to the estate of Mr. or Mrs. Garrick, but should they belong to Mrs. Garrick's estate there will be some considerable addition to her property in consequence of the veneration in which everything relating to Shakespeare is held. The First Folio in her aunt's library is highly valuable, and he hopes it will induce her in the words of her uncle to "sing immortal Shakespeare's praise." Mentions Beltz and Mr. Carr's law expenses.

One letter contains two pencil drawings, an engraving, and a paper cutout of a silhouette (L.g.211). Letters are full of references to theatre and literature, discussing Shakespeare, Mrs. Radcliffe, Madame de Staël, La Fontaine, Fielding, Hannah More, Fanny Burney, Kant, Edgeworth, Victor Hugo, Sir Walter Scott (e.g., L.g.233, 234, 236, 246-49, 251). She reacts to her aunt's will in L.g.243, and to a kaleidoscope in L.g.238. In addition to letters, this group of manuscripts contains a leaf relating to von Saar genealogy, and a poem, first line: Could I but lend you, by Your Nose (L.g.255)
