The records of the Conference on Science, Philosophy, and Religion, 1939-1977, consist principally of correspondence, copies of Conference papers, comments on papers, lists of participants, minutes, press releases, invitations, book typescripts, and other material documenting the administration of each conference, 1940-1968. Another large portion of the records consists of stenographic reports of the proceedings of Conference meetings and sessions, 1939-1968. Also included are by-laws, memoranda, andcorrespondence documenting the Conference's creation, 1940-1941; questionnaire responses from Conference members, 1942-1943; financial records of the Conference, 1940-1957; and the permanent administrative files of the Conference, 1940-1977. The stenographic reports of the Conference sessions form a complete record of the organization's proceedings over the course of its development, and thus are particularly valuable.

Adams, Henry, 1838-1918. Henry Adams letters, 1894-1937 (bulk 1894-1913).
Title:
Henry Adams letters, 1894-1937 (bulk 1894-1913).
The collection contains seven letters. Adams writes to [Joseph P.] Iddings, 11 Oct. 1894 (with envelope), about his visit to see the glacier of Illecillewaet (west slope of the Selkirk Mountains, British Columbia), his possible travel plans to the Antilles, the weather in Washington, where some of his friends are, and mentioning that he prefers teaching to any other profession; to Harriet Blaine Beale [lacking salutation], 17 Dec. 1895, about politics, the presidential election of 1896 and family matters; to My dear friend [Harriet Blaine Beale], 8 Feb. [1896], about news of family and friends and politics; to Mrs. Winthrop Chanler, undated but with envelope postmarked 18 May 1899, about his arriving in Florence, Italy, and family news; to Dear Lady [Louise Boit], 15 Mar. 1913 (with envelope), about a future trip to Paris and that he is sending "the Chartres;" to Mrs. [Colgate] Hoyt, Saturday, undated, about social matters and not being able to get away to go south with her. Also included is a letter to T.K.F. [Thomas K. Finletter], Christmas 1937, signed "H." [Harriet Blaine Beale]. It discusses books sent to her from Mrs. John Hay containing John Hay's letters. She indicates that Mrs. Hay wanted all the proper names to be ruled out. She also notes that Henry Adams was distressed by this and that he asked her to bring him the first volume so that he could fill in the names for her in his own handwriting. She is giving the books to Finletter as a Christmas gift.
