Correspondence and speeches of David Overmyer as well as a biographical essay with descriptive information about his scrapbooks & other records by his daughter Grace Overmyer and a copy of a newspaper article about his 1906 Kansas attorney general campaign. Included in the correspondence are letters from William Jennings Bryan, Benjamin Harrison, Nelson Appleton Miles, Mary Elizabeth Lease, George Glick, William J. Stone, John Clark Ridpath, William Alexander Harris, and Jasper R. Monroe. Overmyer wrote to both the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railroad and the Union Pacific Railway. Subjects include political & legislative issues in Kansas, 1880-1906; the Kansas Democratic Party, Democratic politics nationally, & Democratic National Conventions; railroads, specifically the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Co.; prohibition; suffrage; populism; and the Topeka Elks lodge.

The United States Sanitary Commission established the Army and Navy Claim Agency (ANCA) in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 1864 to serve as the USSC’s central office to assist Union soldiers, sailors, and their families in prosecuting claims on the federal government for pensions, back pay, bounty, commutation of rations, prize money, and other benefits, without cost. The Army and Navy Claim Agency Archives comprise the records of the Army and Navy Claim Agency; the records of the Pension Agency, its predecessor organization; the registers and cash books of its subsidiary local agencies; and the records of two quasi-independent USSC claim agencies whose origins predate the establishment of the Army and Navy Claim Agency: the Protective War Claim Association of the State of New York, located in New York City, and the Protective War Claim and Pension Agency, located in Philadelphia.

Lawyer, diplomat, secretary of state during the Wilson administration, and member of the American mission to negotiate a peace treaty following World War I. Correspondence, memoranda, reports, resolutions, desk diaries, book manuscripts, speeches, scrapbooks, clippings, printed material, memorabilia, photographs, and other papers relating chiefly to Lansing's years (1914-1920) as counsel to the Department of State and as secretary of state and particularly to American foreign relations during World War I, the Paris Peace Conference, and Lansing's relations with President Woodrow Wilson and with various foreign diplomats and statesmen.
