First item is a group of correspondence that was apparently originally stored in a letterbook (only cover remains). The cover has the title: Genealogical & Miscellaneous collections 1833. Correspondents include Joshua Coffin, Nathan P. Fletcher, William Gibbs, Alfred Johnson, John Kelly, Lemuel Shattuck, John H. Sumner, Isaiah Thomas, and Joseph Emerson Worcester. The subject matter of the correspondence concerns lists of publications (for William Buell Sprague, Ebenezer Hill, Jacob Burnap, and Hezekiah Packard), class lists and/or biographical sketches of Dartmouth College graduates, biographical sketches for various citizens including Edmond Charles Genet, genealogical sketches concerning various New England families, and some extracted genealogical data. The second item is another group of correspondence consisting primarily of town and church historical sketches for various communities in NH as well as some biographical sketches. The papers document his tenure as minister in Pittsfield, Mass., his college presidencies, his executorship of his father-in-law's estate, and his retirement to Northampton, Mass. Letter includes draft of Plumer's reply. Gerry acknowledges the receipt of Plumer's address to the New Hampshire legislature, "...exhibiting in lively colours the atrocious conduct of G. Gerry continues his letter to discuss the War of 1812, saying: "Indeed 20, or 25,000 men appeared to me an army, not too large to invade lower Canada & to penetrate to the Walls of Quebec." Plumer, in his reply, comments at some length on the Constitution, the progress of the War, and offers his congratulatioins to Gerry on his having been elected Vice President.

Cases heard before Daniel Plumer as Justice of the Peace in Epping. Entries include place of hearing, date and time, party names, brief description of the issues and the result of the cases. The first 115 pages are used, followed by 239 blank pages. The final 11 pages reverse direction and entries begin from the back of the book. These are mostly records of oaths administered. On the first of these pages is the record of William Plumer's oath that he will faithfully discharge his duties as a trustee of Dartmouth University (Jan 23, 1817). The final pages of the reversed entries are an account book with entries dated 1863-1866.

Correspondence chiefly concerns the Dartmouth College case (Trustees of Dartmouth College v. William Woodward. Correspondents, whose letters primarily relate to the Dartmouth College case, include a number of Dartmouth College trustees including Nathaniel Niles, Israel W. Putnam, Seth Payson, Timothy Farrar, Elijah Paine, and Asa McFarland. Among those opposing the college trustees and supporting Dartmouth University, Brown received letters from Gov. William Plumer, Gov. John Taylor Gilman, William Henry Woodward, John Wheelock, and William Allen. Other correspondents include Joseph Hopkinson, Joseph Perry, Nathan Smith, Benjamin J. Gilbert, Joseph Annance, Alexander Ramsay, Jermiah Mason, Azel Backus, Jeremiah Day, R.D. Mussey, and Erastus Fairbanks. To a lesser extent the records concern fiscal matters of Moor's Charity School and the enrollment of boys from the Stockbridge Indians and the tribe at St. Francis. Other subjects include the loaning of a telescope to Dartmouth by William Thurston, and the leasing of college-owned land in Wheelock, VT. The records include Brown's inaugural address and some accounts.
