Handwritten memoirs entitled "My Life in the West", written in 1930. There is also a typescript of the memoirs and a typed "Reminiscences of James B. Glover as told to Mrs. George F. Kitt, 1928,1929." His memoirs describe the overland journey to the West. His reminiscences tell about army life, the Geronimo campaign, Gen. Crook, the Apache Kid, and the Wham payroll robbery.

Photograph album of Bisbee scenes including stores, churches, schools, homes, and other buildings, as well as burro trains, the street railway, the first railroad train, and stagecoaches. There are Bisbee street scenes, celebrations, a women's Sunday School group, and a band concert. There are views of Main Street over the years including flooding in 1890 and 1896. There are photographs of the Herring, Williams, Brophy and Stillman families and one image of the Apache Kid. One image is present of C.S. Fly and others at honorary services for the late President Garfield, 1881. Another image shows James Carr's ore wagons and 24-mule team, 1887. There are photographs of the Copper Queen smelter, the Glory Hole mine, and views of Brewery Gulch between 1880 and 1890. There are a few images of the Bisbee Deportation. The album was compiled by Opie Lea in 1956 in order to preserve Bisbee's history.

Summary: The bulk of the collection is one typewritten manuscript entitled "Reminiscences from the Life of John Rope: "Old Timer" of the White Mountain Apaches" as told to Grenville Goodwin. The manuscript (1935) describes John Rope who was born around 1855. The manuscript primarily covers his experiences as a scout for the U.S. Government and his boyhood with the White Mountain Apaches in the San Carlos area describing Apache customs and lifestyle. He mentions Victorio, Geronimo, Gen. George Crook, Al Sieber and the Apache Kid. Also present is one folder of correspondence between Goodwin and Edith Kitt of the Arizona Pioneers Historical Society.

Diary, manuscript, and sketchbooks from Chrisman's military service in southern Arizona and Fort Craig, New Mexico. Includes one field diary, 1885-1887, which describes military encampments in New Mexico and Arizona. The diary doesn't mention the Geronimo Campaign. A handwritten manuscript, "The Apache Campaign of 1885-86", was written by Chrisman and was published in Winners of the West, 1927. Also present are two 16 x 20 sketchbooks, one drawn at Fort Craig, N.M., 1885-1886; the other contains drawings of Geronimo, George Crook, Nelson Miles, the Apache Kid, and others, but is undated.
