The collection is divided into two parts. The first contains the autograph collection of William S. Worth, who collected letters of prominent men, chiefly from New England and New York in the late 18th century and early 19th century. Most of the correspondence, 1765-1832, is of a routine nature though of interest is a letter, 1804 December 28, from Thomas Rodney re: the political situation in West Florida and a cover note, 1805 March 4, from William Eaton to James Madison re: a treaty with Mamet Bashaw. The second half of the collection consists of letters, 1891-1938, to Jefferson Randolph Kean, chiefly from noted medical colleagues on routine matters, although James Carroll Flippin queries Kean on the University of Virginia's influence on Walter Reed. Correspondents are William Beaumont, Elias Boudinot, Aaron Burr, Benjamin Franklin Butler, John Butler, Jonathan Dayton, Charles Edward Dudley, William Duer, Pierpont Edwards, Oliver Ellsworth, Gideon Granger, John Hancock, Richard Harrison, Stephen Higginson, Samuel Huntington, John Kean, Aaron Ogden, Harrison Gray Otis, Charles Petit, Caesar Augustus Rodney, Thomas Russell, Philip John Schuyler, William H. Seward, William Smith, Abraham Van Vechten, and Benjamin Wright. Also included are Fred Crayton Ainsworth, Dallas Bache, Andre Chantemesse, Enoch Herbert Crowder, Bernard Francis Dickmann, William Crawford Gorgas, Fitzhugh Lee, Franklin Henry Martin, Henry Pinckney McCain, Angus McLean, William Louis Rodman, William Howard Taft, William Holland Wilmer, and Leonard Wood.
