Levi S. Udall was born 20 January 1891 at Saint Johns, Arizona, to David K. and Ella Udall, Morman pioneers to Arizona in 1880. His childhood was spent working on his father's farm and carrying United States mail by team and buckboard for his father's mail contract business. He attended public school in St. Johns, completed his secondary education at Gila Academy (1910-1911), and briefly attended the University of Arizona, Tucson.
He married Louise Lee of Thatcher, Arizona, on 10 June 1914. They had six children: Inez, Elma, Stewart, Morris, Eloise, and Burr. In addition to the farm, the family operated Apache Abstract Company (c. 1930-1945), the only title company in Apche County. He was member of the Arizona Boy Scouts Councils (1915-1960). He worked as a clerk for the Apache County Board of Supervisors (1915-1918), and as a clerk for the Superior Court (1919-1920). An Democratic National Convention in San Francisco (1920). Admitted to the state bar (1922), he served as county attorney for Apache County (1922-1923, 1927-1928). He was elected as Judge of the Superior Court (1931-1946), and later, as Judge to the Arizona Supreme Court (1947-1960).
He was appointed Ward president for the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association (1915-1920), a Morman organization. Ordained into the Mormon priesthood by his father, David K. Udall in 1920, Levi Udall was a committed member of his church. He served as president of the St. Johns Stake (1922-1945), and later was appointed as Patriarch for the Phoenix North Stake.
Dedicated to the preservation of his father's deeds, he edited a biogrpahy prepared by his sister, Pearl Udall Nelson, titled Arizona Pioneer Mormon (1915). A member of many civic associations, he was awarded both the Medallion of Merit (1959) and an honorary Doctor of LAws (1960) by the University of Arizona.
He died of a heart attack in Wickenburg, Arizona, on 30 May 1960.

Bingham, Millicent Todd, 1880-1968. Millicent Todd Bingham papers, 1865-1968 (inclusive).
Title:
Millicent Todd Bingham papers, 1865-1968 (inclusive).
One-fifth of the papers are devoted to correspondence, books, articles, speeches and research notes relating to her publication of Emily Dickinson's poems in Bolts of Melody (1945) and three subsequent books about Emily Dickinson. Bingham's education as well as her professional life as a teacher of French and as a geographer, particularly of Peru, are thoroughly documented with correspondence, research notes, publications and other papers (1885-1929). Her carefully kept personal papers (journals, diaries, notebooks, scrapbooks) offer a minute and frank record of her life and times (1885-1967). The extensive papers on nature conservation (5 feet) are centered on her donation of a nature preserve in Maine and include her writings, maps, histories of the region, as well as financial and legal papers on the transfer of the property (1960). Prominent in her large correspondence (19 feet) are Rachel Carson, Bernard De Voto, Gilbert Grosvenor, William Dean Howells, Amy Lowell, Archibald MacLeish, George Herbert Palmer, Margaret Chase Smith, George W. Wickersham, Robert M. Yerkes and Stark Young. There is also a voluminous family correspondence. Included is also a small amount (2 feet) of the papers of her husband, Walter Van Dyke Bingham, an industrial psychologist, largely made up of his professional writings (1926-1952).

IAIA Records--Compiled by Chuck Dailey
Title:
IAIA Records--Compiled by Chuck Dailey
RG-01, IAIA Records, 1961-Present, consists of the surviving records of the Institute of American Indian Arts, a division of the Bureau of Indian Affairs until 1986, and its associated museum. Since there was no records management program at IAIA, very few records were formally retained by the administration, faculty, or staff over the course of the Institutions existence. Charles Dailey, a former faculty member and the director of the IAIA Museum between 1971-2007, wisely compiled administrative records he deemed important, which are sparse, but maintained very good records for his museum and its operations. It is important to note that RG-01 must be viewed through the eyes of Mr. Dailey, not through the lenses of general operations. The records were stored in the basement of the IAIA Museum on the campus of the Santa Fe Indian School until their move to the present IAIA Museum on Palace Ave in 1992. Upon completion of the IAIA Campus in Santa Fe County, the records were moved into the current location in 2001. As the administrative records were compiled over the years, students taking Dailey’s “Museum Archives” course filed the records to no particular archival standards. Beginning in 2006, upon the hiring of IAIA’s first archivist, basic folder level inventories began to be compiled. Beginning in 2009, an effort was started to re-arrange and re-describe RG-01 according to current archival standards, as well as process previously unprocessed sections of the record group. The records are arranged by year, adhering to the previous arrangement schema. Each year is represented by a Sub-Group, i.e. SG-01-1961, SG-02, 1962, etc. Within each sub-group, there are two primary series; Series I: IAIA Educational and Administrative Records, and Series II: IAIA Museum Records. Because the Museum director compiled the vast bulk of RG-01, the Museum series is much more detailed and complete than the Educational and Administrative series. IAIA Records,1961 consists of reports and public relations materials (.25 cu. ft.) related to the activities of IAIA during the year 1961. The subgroup contains a brief history of the Santa Fe Indian School and the beginning of a reconstruction to house the IAIA two-year program under the Bureau of Indian Affairs with several leading persons: Glenn Emmons, BIA Commissioner; Stewart Udall, Future Secretary of the Interior; Philleo Nash, Future BIA Commissioner; Hildegard Thompson, BIA Chief Officer of Education; George A. Boyce, IAIA Superintendent.

On June 25, 1964, the search in Mississippi for three missing civil rights workers, Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner, and James Chaney, continued. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. attempted to contact Johnson. The President instructed Lee White to tell King that he had "sent eight helicopters down there [to Philadelphia, Mississippi] this morning, and 200 Marines" and had "made available every facility of the Federal Government and the Defense Department and the FBI . . ." At 1:10 p.m., the President hosted a luncheon in the State Dining Room for Prime Minister George Papandreou of Greece; he later met with the Prime Minister and others in the Cabinet Room. In the evening Johnson met with foreign policy advisors to discuss the situation in Southeast Asia.
