Most of the items microfilmed are from the Public Archives of Canada. From the Daniel Claus Papers, 1761-1796, are letters and papers on Indian affairs at Forts Pitt, Niagara, and Detroit, with letters of Dr. Alexander McKee, Arthur St. Clair, Joseph Chew, Richard Butler, Joseph Brant, and John Graves Simcoe. From the papers of Brigadier Robert Monckton, 1760-1761, are appointments, returns, reports, bills and receipts, and letters relating to Forts Pitt, Bedford, and Niagara, with letters of James Burd, Horatio Gates, Henry Bouquet, Lewis Ourry, Sir John St. Clair, Thomas Hutchins, John Stanwix, and Lord Amherst. There are also excerpts for minutes of the Commissioners of Indian Affairs at Albany, 1723-1746.

Typewritten copy of a letter dated Williamsburg, Va., April 4, 1774, from Alexander McKee, Deputy Agent, conveying the wishes of the Earl of Dunmore, Governor of Virginia, that Aeneas McKay, Michael Miers, and Andrew McFarlane commit depredations against the Indians. The letter is of doubtful authenticity, per 1939 correspondence between the Wisconsin Historical Society and C. R. Swickard, its transcriber.

Records, 1797-1803, of councils held between various Indian tribes and Canadian provincial officials and members of the British Indian Department, as well as copies of letters and speeches made by chiefs and officers, including President Peter Russell. Councils took place in various locations in what is now Ontario Province, specifically in Bay of Quinte, Fort George, River Credit, Amherstburg, Newark, West Niagra, and Isle de Saint Joseph. Participants and correspondents include representatives of several North American Indian Nations, the Chippewa, Cayuga, Mohawk, and Seneca among them. Individual representatives include Chiefs Joseph Brant and Red Jacket. Canadian provincial officials include Capt. William Claus, Col. Alexander McKee, Prideaux Selby, and Capt. Peter Drummond. The volume commences with the receipt of the King's instructions for the Indian Department, dated Dec. 15, 1796.
