This record group contains meeting minutes, contracts, correspondence, and negotiations regarding conference boards between the UE and companies. Also included are research materials about the companies and their respective UE locals, such as grievances, arbitrations, and leaflets.

The Research Triangle Foundation (RTF) is the owner and developer of Research Triangle Park, N.C., a research park housing research institutes and other businesses in Piedmont North Carolina. Records of the Research Triangle Foundation include files of predecessor organizations and other organizations related to the planning and development of the Research Triangle Park, among them the Pinelands Company, Inc.; the Research Triangle Committee, Inc.; the Triangle Service Center; and the Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission. Also included are materials relating to the Research Triangle Institute and the Triangle Universities Center for Advanced Studies, Inc. Files contain correspondence, memoranda, agendas and minutes of meetings, financial records, legal documents, maps, plats, architectural drawings, speeches, promotional materials, newspaper clippings, publications of Research Triangle Park organizations, reference materials, photographs, slides, film, and audiocassettes and tapes. Fried, Emanuel, 1913-2011. Manny Fried labor union papers, 1934-1967, 1946-1956.

Title: Manny Fried labor union papers, 1934-1967, 1946-1956.

This collection consists of the records compiled by Manny Fried while working as a labor organizer for the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, District 3. The records in this collection document the labor struggle in Buffalo and Western New York during a period of strong anti-communist sentiment from the perspective of a union that was frequently denounced for its communist ties. This conflict can be seen in the correspondence and negotiations between management and union officials to solidify labor agreements, strike documents, grievance and arbitration proceedings, and leaflets produced by both sides. Union published newsletters and newspaper clippings also demonstrate the anti-communist sentiment of the 1940s and 1950s as well as issues such as unemployment and the economy. Job descriptions and other source materials used for negotiating labor contracts are also included in many of the series, as well as manuscript and published labor agreements, contracts, and union local constitutions and by-laws. Each series documents an individual company in negotiations with UE with the exception of series 13, which consists of materials specifically about UE. Included in each series arranged alphabetically by company or union name are correspondence, notes, meeting minutes, general business records, negotiating and bargaining material, grievance and arbitration proceedings, labor agreements, promotional material, and newspaper clippings concerning District 3 locals in Western New York. The final series, Miscellaneous Companies, A-Z, consists of less documented companies. Materials within each series are arranged by type of material and chronologically.

Lippincott Mercer (A Division of Mercer Management Consulting, Inc.). Records, 1956-2004.

Title: Records, 1956-2004.

The records consist of a set of the company's magazine, DESIGN SENSE. Although missing four numbers, it is the most complete set extant. Beginning with No. 6, each issue was identified in a continuous number sequence, and the majority had a single theme and title. The title of the serial was changed to SENSE with No. 59. The magazine was circulated to actual and prospective clients and contained short articles on marketing and design trends along with case studies derived from the firm's practice. As a publicity vehicle, the magazine's coverage tends to be broad rather than deep when it comes to describing the firm's actual work. That is, it covers many of Lippincott & Margulies's major clients, but lacks the detail that would have been found in actual design studies and presentations. However, the magazine is copiously illustrated with examples of the firm's designs for logos, signage, packaging, store displays, and the interiors of theme and fast food restaurants. Of particular note is their work with S.C. Johnson & Son (temporarily "branded" by them as Johnson's Wax), including the design of its pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair. Apart from the case studies, there are many articles of a general nature charting the changes in the consumer economy over the last half of the twentieth century, including the emergence of a separate youth market, the habits of women shoppers, growing globalization of markets, and the role of corporate image in the volatile world of mergers and divestitures.
