The conference brought together curators, art historians, conservators, conservation scientists, and artists to present and discuss interdisciplinary case studies on the conservation of the diverse and frequently nontraditional materials used by artists in the creation of modern and contemporary art. Topics discussed at the conference included the broad variety of materials used by modern and contemporary artists, as well as the challenges posed to the conservators charged with the preservation of works of art and to the historians and curators who interpret them.
