The Quivira Bookshop and Photograph Gallery collection consists of a scrapbook and loose materials that were found within the scrapbook. Folders 1-6 contain the loose material and folder 7 contains the scrapbook itself. Materials include handwritten and typed historical narratives, newspaper and magazine articles, business documents, and photographs documenting the business and cultural life of the Quivira Bookshop and Photograph Gallery. Newpaper and magazine articles document the many fine art photographers and prominent New Mexicans associated with Quivira. Prominent persons featured in the collection include Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter, Laura Gilpin, Minor White, Alfred Stieglitz, Peter Hurd, Van Deren Coke, and Concha Ortiz y Pino de Kleven.

Title: Women in Social Services Oral History Collection, 1986-1987.

Contains 17 interviews. Major subjects discussed by Schackel and her informants include public health, welfare, the Depression, and federal programs such as the Works Progress Administration and the Federal Emergency Relief Administration. In addition, the women discuss their roles in organizations such as the Red Cross and local social service groups. Of particular note are interviews describing African-American women's organizations in the Albuquerque area. There are nineteen detailed tape logs, one for each of the recorded interviews and two additional transcripts for interviews that do not have audio tapes.

This collection has two main components. The first part contains clippings and assorted unpublished writings regarding the historic significance of Pedro Bautista Pino as New Mexico's first legislator and Representative to Spanish parliament in the 19th century. This part of the collection includes biographical information about Pedro Bautista Pino as well as news items regarding the commemoration of his 1810 visit to Spain in 1975, and the participation of Concha Ortiz y Pino de Kleven in these festivities. Information regarding the genealogy of the Ortiz family is interspersed throughout the documents. The second portion of the collection contains a scrapbook compiled by Concha Ortiz y Pino de Kleven spanning roughly 20 years (1930s and 1940s). Among her memorabilia are items reflecting her professional life as a member of the House of Representatives, as well as those which shed light on her personal life. Items in the collection include photos, cards, letters of thanks and of courtship, invitations, telegrams, newspaper clippings, sheet music, programs, poetry, legislative memos, and assorted other items reflecting all aspects of her life -- both political and social, professional and private.

Summary: Collection consists of one 1982 Open Hands newsletter and six audio tapes of oral history programs held in 1993 and 1994 to raise money for Open Hands. The programs featured long-time Santa Fe residents who spoke on a variety of topics. The speakers included Myrtle Stedman, Pablita Velarde, Concha Ortiz y Pino de Kleven, Edward T. Hall, Marjorie F. Lambert, Sallie Wagner, Eva Larragoite, Ernestine Evans, Marguerite Claffey, Frank Ortiz, Anita Thomas, Dickie Pfaelzer, John Conron, Nancy Knox, Jean Seth, Lloyd Kiva New, Sam Ziegler, Virginia Mackie, Philip Schultz, Marian Love, Abe Silver, Letta Wofford, and Ben Ortega. Most of the speakers discussed their experience living in Santa Fe and how the city has developed. Some of the general topics covered include art and art galleries, schools, doctors, merchants, and the Catholic Church in Santa Fe. Some of the specific topics covered include the Santa Fe Fiesta, La Fonda Hotel, Santa Fe Opera, and the Penitente Brotherhood.
