Concerned with the landing of Capt. Mervine's forces at Monterey, under order of John D. Sloat, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Naval Forces in the Pacific Ocean, 7 July 1846, the Battle of Domingues Rancho, landings at San Diego, the arrival of Gen. Kearney, and the victory at Los Angeles, 10 January 1847. The Savannah begins its journey at Callao, Port of Lima, Peru, and concludes at the New York Navy Yard, 8 September 1847.

Cyane (Sloop-of-war). Cyane logbook, 1846-1847.

Title: Cyane logbook, 1846-1847.

Logbook of the Navy sloop Cyane and a clipping. Log kept for the Navy sloop Cyane while under the command of William Mervine and Samuel F. Dupont during cruises in the Pacific to California and to the coast of Mexico. Records kept during the time period when the sloop was active in the Mexican War. Records were also kept during cruises in the Caribbean Sea and include landings at Trinidad, Barbados, and other islands. The clipping (ca. 1847) contains information about the Cyane's actions during the Mexican War. It lists the names of the Cyane's officers, as well as two military passengers.
