Philanthropist. Served as a second lieutenant and captain in the War of 1812, and as acting assistant adjutant general at Camp Meigs, Ohio. Was later president of the United States Branch Bank at St. Louis and President of the Mississippi and Ohio Railroad. Contributor to O'Fallon Polytechnical Institute.
