George Manville Fenn was a prolific author of boys' adventure stories, often in serial form. Born in London, he trained as a teacher, and taught for several years before trying his hand at the printing business. He found his niche writing adventure tales, and became a master of sustaining suspense between serialized issues of his stories. He also wrote in other genres, but adventure stories were his greatest success, and he published nearly two hundred such tales.
