Taylor, Eleanor Ross, 1920-2011
Variant namesEleanor Ross Taylor was born in North Carolina in 1920. She graduated from the Woman's College (UNCG) in 1940, and married writer Peter Taylor in 1943. Her first book of poetry, Wilderness of ladies (New York, McDowell) was published in 1960 and includes an introduction by Randall Jarrell. Her second volume of poems, Welcome Eumenides, appeared in 1972 (pub. Braziller); New and selected poems followed in 1983 (Winston-Salem, N.C., Stuart Wright).
