Pratt, Mr. (Samuel Jackson), 1749-1814
Variant namesSamuel Jackson Pratt abandoned his clerical career to become successively an actor, a bookseller, a dramatist, and finally a prolific poet and novelist whose best-known productions were the poem Sympathy and a translation of The Sorrows of Werther.
The collection also contains "The Linnets," a sentimental fable by Pratt, and a copy of a poem, "On Mrs. Provis leaving Bath the day after Keppel's Arrival."
