Under contracts W 44-109-qm-329 and W 44-109-qm-675 with the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps, Research and Development Branch, Military Planning Division, the project's purpose was to make a survey of sources of interest to the Branch and to procure the documents or make abstracts of them. Reports were received from the War and Navy Departments, National Research Council, and several British and Canadian government offices.
