Letter, 1840 March 25, West Point, N.Y. [to] Major R. Delafield.

Officer, U.S. Army, Adjutant, West Point. Letter stating that the adjutant's office was closed and the clerk was given a holiday on Sundays. In reply to Reverend Adams' complaint on receiving orders on Sunday, Waggaman states that orders were issued on Sunday only when necessity dictated.

Richard Delafield was born in New York City on September 1, 1798. He was one of the 14 children of John and Anne (née Hallett) Delafield.
