General fund cash disbursement journals, 1776-1928.

Accounts of cash disbursed from the treasury. The first five volumes list, in addition to the dates and amounts disbursed, only the names of those who received the money, while the sixth volume gives the reason for disbursing the money as well. Volumes 7 through 104 (October 1, 1824-February 28, 1920) record both cash receipts and cash disbursements; volumes 105 through 121 record cash disbursements only. The dates covered are January 3, 1776-May 23, 1777; December 14,1778-September 30, 1795; January 3-December 31, 1821; October 1, 1824-September 30, 1825; October 1, 1826-March 27, 1828; October 1, 1829-September 30, 1831; October 1, 1833-September 30, 1836; October 1, 1837-September 30, 1838; October 1, 1840-September 30, 1842; October 1, 1847-September 30, 1849; October 1, 1850-September 30, 1851; October 1, 1854-February 29, 1864; October 1, 1865-February 28, 1920; January 1, 1921-February 28, 1928.
