Journal and account book : Plainfield, [Connecticut?], 1775-1777.

Contains personal accounts. Journal entries record weather conditions; description of physical ailments and emotional depression; spiritual reflections; travels to Providence (Rhode Island) and Canterbury (Connecticut?); the progress of the War. He makes frequent mention of his low spirits, feelings of guilt, and troubled sleep. The entry for 20 December 1776 describes General Washington's success at Trenton, where he headed 3000 men, routed 1600 of the enemy, and took 919 prisoners. The entry for 25 May 1777 records that Lightfoot was drafted into the Army.
