This is a small collection of papers on the business dealings of John Thurman Jr. of New York City and Warren County, New York as a merchant and land agent. The most significant item is a letterbook for 1777 to 1821 containing correspondence on trade, land transactions, Thruman's views on the approaching revolution and his relationship to his nephews. The recipients include Rutger Bleecker, Goldsbrow Banyar, Elias Boudinot, Zephaniah Platt, the Fondas, Cadwallader Colden, English companies, and others.
