Petition, 1791 December 24.

Petition by Abraham Yates, Peter W. Yates, Philip Schuyler, Abraham Ten Broeck, Stephen Van Rensselaer, and Teunis P. Van Vechten, as Commissioners for superintending the building of a jail and the repair of the Albany County Courthouse, to the Legislature of New York. They state that the four thousand pounds allotted to these purposes is insufficient and that 1500 pounds is required to complete the repairs. They propose that the Court House be sold, as it is not in a convenient location, and the money from the sale, added to the additional 1500 pounds, be used to erect a new building.
