Johns discusses his long association with the Museum, beginning with his visits to exhibitions at the Museum in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He relates the story of meeting Alfred H. Barr, Jr. and Dorothy C. Miller at the first exhibition of his work at the Leo Castelli Gallery in 1958. He mentions other former and present curators at the Museum with whom he has worked, including Riva Castleman, William S. Lieberman, Kynaston McShine, Bernice Rose, William S. Rubin, and Kirk Varnedoe. He also. discusses his work as a printmaker with Tatyana Grosman at Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE). In conclusion, Johns summarizes the importance of the Museum to the development of his career.
