Chief chemist's subject files, 1939-1949.

Primarily correspondence between the office of H. J. Hoffman, chief chemist for the Agriculture, Dairy, and Food Department, and the public, for the years 1939, 1944, and 1946. The central office correspondence is frequently facilitated and/or supplemented by information supplied by the ADF out-state inspectors. At the end of this sequence are a file of correspondence regarding referred complaints (1949), a set of chemical laboratory reports (1942-1946), and tabulations of condemnations and seizures of suspect foodstuffs (1942-1946).
