John H. Blegen reminiscences, [1886].

Typed copies of an account of a missionary journey from Sand Hill (Polk County, Minnesota) to the Mouse River region of Dakota Territory in July 1886 by Blegen, a minister of the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America and a teacher at Augsburg Seminary, Minneapolis. The purpose of the trip was to organize new Lutheran churches in Dakota Territory. There is information on travel difficulties, settlements and towns (especially Lutheran), penetration by Missouri Synod Lutherans, services conducted by Blegen, and former Minnesotans he encountered.
