John Keats was an English poet and literary critic. John Keats, English poet, was born in London, England, on 29 or 31 Oct. 1795. He died of tuberculosis in Italy on 23 Feb. 1821. In 1810, Keats was articled to a surgeon, T. Hammond, in Edmonton for five years. The contract was broken in 1814 or 1815. James Thomas Fields, American publisher and author, was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1817. At the age of 17, he went to Boston to clerk in a booksellers shop. While clerking, he often wrote for newspapers and in 1839 he became junior partner in the publishing and bookselling firm known after 1846 as Ticknor and Fields, and after 1868 as Fields, Osgood & Company.
