Scrapbook, 1836-[ca. 1890].

Consists of newspaper clippings glued in a volume that was originally a catalog of the Meriden Britannia Co. It opens with a series of articles on the Centennial Exhibition from the Boston Journal. A full color illustration of the Meriden Britannia Co.'s exhibition booth remains visible. There is also a depiction of the exhibit of Reed & Barton. Other clippings feature such topics as illness, religion, advice on manners and etiquette, poetry, and the chronology of the Mexican American and Civil Wars. Among the loose items there is a small account book kept by an unidentified tailor in 1836 and 1837, a number of advertisements for clocks, a sheet depicting Presidents of the United States with brief biographical sketches, and an essay entitled "Originality in English Literature of the 16th and 17th centuries," by J.B. Hutchinson.
