Records concerning the construction of the U.S. Penitentiary at Boise City, Idaho Territory. Letters received, reports, building plans, specifications, estimates, and related records concerning site selection, appointment of construction superintendent, progress of construction work, water supply for the facility and related matters. The records dated January 14, 1869-June 8, 1872, concern construction of the original facility and the records dated January 18, 1889-November 1890 concern the addition of a new wing to the older building. The later records include all of the building plans and related drawings found among the records.
