Typewritten memorandum by Thomas F. Dawson of an interview with Hal Sayre describing the latter's surveying of the Transit Railroad between Winona and St. Peter in 1856-1857. Accompanied by a cover letter from Dawson, Historical Curator, State Historical and Natural History Society, Denver, Colorado, to the Minnesota Historical Society (Oct. 26, 1921).

Hal Sayre (1835-1926) was an experienced surveyor and civil engineer when he came to Colorado during the Clear Creek gold rush of 1859. He was instrumental in determining the extent of mining claims derived from pre-territorial mining districts in Gilpin and Clear Creek counties, Colorado.
