John Black papers, 1851-1853.

Photocopies of typed copies of four letters written by Reverend John Black, first Presbyterian minister in the Canadian West, to his brother and father. Reverend Black was sent from Toronto to the Selkirk settlement in 1851 as a temporary appointment. These letters, written at various points along the way, tell of his experiences. The copies of the letters include introductory annotations and footnotes.
