There is information on the construction of the railroad into the area and the growth of the lumber industry. After the state forest service was created in 1911, Bessette was made the first ranger for the district. The sketch is accompanied by a letter (1 leaf) from Earl E. Eddy, Ranger, District 16, to the Director of the Division of Forestry (July 7, 1937).
