This series consists of proclamations made by the governor, attested by the secretary of state, and embossed with the state seal. The proclamations concern declarations of special days, weeks, and months devoted to such issues as health, agriculture, religion, transportation, historic preservation, music, drug abuse, conservation, and physical fitness and to such people as Jeremiah Denton, prisoners of war, senior citizens, and youth. Correspondence for or against specific proclamation topics is also included in this series.

Lurleen Burns Wallace (born Lurleen Brigham Burns; September 19, 1926 – May 7, 1968) was the 46th governor of Alabama for fifteen months from January 1967 until her death in May 1968. She was the first wife of Alabama governor George Wallace, whom she succeeded as governor because the Alabama constitution forbade consecutive terms.
