The social basis of urban politics : Minneapolis and St. Paul, 1890-1905 / Michael Barone Harvard University, 1966.

A photocopy of an unpublished paper (33 p.) written by Michael Barone in 1966 while a student at Harvard University. It discusses political decisions made by Minneapolis and St. Paul voters (1890-1905) based on ethnic and class positions. Minneapolis voters were found to vote primarily for the Republican Party, while St. Paul voters cast their ballots primarily for Democrats. Votes for the People's Party were few, but progressive legislation was proposed and enacted by politicians in both major parties.
