Special project files, 1950-1968.

These files document dental health projects conducted by the Division of Dental Health, under the Department of Health (later Department for Health Services) using grant monies provided by the United States Public Health Service; the Department of Health, Education and Welfare; and the E.O. Robinson Mountain Fund. The primary objective of the projects was to improve oral health in Kentucky. Projects included the provision of dental health services for migrant farm workers (1964-1967), for the mentally retarded (1965-1968), for the chronically ill and aged (1961-1964), and for mountain children (1950-1952, 1957-1967); a study on oral cancer and related diseases (1962-1965); and a report on statewide health needs (1955). The records were transferred to the Cabinet for Human Resources (CHR) upon its creation in 1974.
