Robert Montgomery Bird letter and acting copy of adaptation of Nick of the woods, 1839-circa 1900.

The collection consists of two items: letter from Bird to the Committee of the Board of Counsellors of the Athenian Institute, 14 March 1839, declining an invitation to the Institute dinner due to a country visit; also, copy of the acting edition of the dramatic adaptation of Bird's novel, Nick of the Woods, by Miss L.H. Medina, published circa 1900 as no. 269 of French's Standard Drama.
