James J. Duderstadt papers, 1981-1997.

The James J. Duderstadt papers span the years 1981 to 1997. The bulk of the material, however, covers 1986 to 1996 and consists mainly of speeches, position papers, and presentations. Key documents include strategic planning papers such as Vision 2000 and Vision 2017. There are two subgroups in the collection: Paper Documents and Digital Documents. The papers in the Paper Documents subgroup span Duderstadt's career, but are mainly representative of the earlier years of his presidency. Although limited, there are also documents representing Duderstadt's work as professor and dean in the College of Engineering and his tenure as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Series include: Biographical; Speeches and Accompanying Material; Computer Printouts of Speeches; Pre-Presidency Papers; Position Papers; Publications; and Presentations.
