The record group contains files of bishops and other diocesan officers. Bishops represented include George D. Gillespie, Lewis Whittemore, Charles E. Bennison, Howard S. Meeks, and Edward L. Lee. The record group also contains committee files, publicity files, photographs, and records of different diocesan organizations. Within the papers of individual bishops, there are extensive files of correspondence, reports, and background information pertaining to the diocese's relationship with individual churches. Records of defunct diocese parishes or missions are included in this record group. Types of these records include registers, minute books, and record of services. Included here are the diaries (8 volumes) of the Rev. William C. White of Hastings, Michigan, for the period of 1897-1921.
