Joseph Webber Jackson letters, 1836-1853.

This collection consists of two letters: one to Joseph Webber Jackson from James Gettys McGready Ramsey, 1836, the other from Jackson to Franklin Pierce, 1853. Ramsey wants to obtain more information regarding Georgia's part in Tennessee's history, and mentions letters from Georgians to Governor Sevier in the Tennessee Archives; he states Jackson is the first Georgian elected an honorary member of the Tennessee Historical Society. In his letter to Pierce, Jackson submits two recommendations from citizens of Thomas County, Georgia, on behalf of John White for appointment as timber agent for the middle district of Florida.
