This series contains correspondence to and from Bishop Chilstrom and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) staff, parish members, and Lutheran agencies. Occasions for the greeting correspondence include agency anniversaries; clergy ordinations, birthdays, retirement, and installations; congregational anniversaries; gift acknowledgments; and wedding anniversaries. The Events and Publications file contains letters regarding requests for Bishop Chilstrom's work to be published or his participation in certain events. Lay Persons Recognition correspondence includes congratulations to ELCA members on various occasions, such as birthdays, retiring from positions as church musicians, and teaching. Letters of Appreciation are to ELCA staff as well as lay people, thanking them for gifts, cards, donations, and letters of support. Files are arranged alphabetically.
