This collection contains correspondence to and from the office of Bishop Herbert Chilstrom regarding the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Constituting Convention and biennial Churchwide Assemblies. Also included are some news clippings and newsletters regarding the assemblies. Correspondents include the Justice Network of the Lutheran Church, members and pastors of individual ELCA congregations, the Lutheran World Federation, ELCA synod bishops, voting members of the assemblies, international Lutheran and other denominational church leaders, and Lutheran college and seminary presidents.
